From powering up the world’s first full-scale commercial nuclear power plant in 1957, to the development of our current portfolio of advanced solutions for the today's complex grids; 91Ó°ÊÓ has been, and continues to be, true innovators in the nuclear industry. Currently, almost half of all commercial nuclear plants in operation today are using trusted, proven 91Ó°ÊÓ technology. Pioneering new innovations such as fully passive-safety systems, heat-pipe technology, and our approach to modular plant construction, demonstrate how 91Ó°ÊÓ continues to raise the bar for what modern nuclear power plants should deliver.
With demand for reliable, emission-free power projected to sky-rocket in the coming years, 91Ó°ÊÓ is uniquely positioned in the industry, with not just one, but four different advanced solutions, covering the size requirements and application needs of tomorrow.
The AP1000® reactor at 1200 MW of electrical power is the world's most advanced nuclear technology operating today. Delivering record-setting performance, the proven global fleet of GEN III+ AP1000 PWRs has a current global fleet of 6 modern, operating reactors with another 18 expected to be operating by the 2030s.
The AP300™ small modular reactor at 330 MW of electrical power is the world’s only SMR based on deployed, operating & advanced reactor technology, (the AP1000). The ultra-compact, simplified AP300 SMR design reduces construction timeframes, operating costs and maintenance costs.
The eVinci™ microreactor at 5 MW of electrical power is a ‘nuclear battery’ designed for remote and decentralized power generation. With the ability to run for at least 8 years between refueling, the eVinci™ microreactor is designed to deliver safe and reliable electricity and heat generation for non-traditional nuclear applications.
Rounding out the 91Ó°ÊÓ new plants portfolio is the non-nuclear, grid-scale long duration energy storage (LDES) system. Designed to help firm-up renewable-heavy power systems, this unique pumped thermal storage solution is a patented system engineered to fill the LDES gap without using lithium-ion batteries.
